Emma Sumner

Emma Sumner (she/her)

Dr Sumner completed her Bachelor of Science at the University of New Brunswick, then stayed on the East Coast to do her medical school and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Dalhousie University.  She also obtained a Graduate Certificate in Global Surgical Care from UBC.

Dr Sumner made Whitehorse her home in the summer of 2022, along with her partner and golden retriever.  When not at the hospital, she enjoys the wonderful hiking, biking, trail running, and camping that the Yukon has to offer.

Sarah Saunders

Sarah Saunders (she/her)

Dr Sarah Saunders moved to Whitehorse in 2018 with her husband and two daughters.  Her family has since grown to also include two Yukon dogs.  The Yukon definitely feels like home now!

Dr Saunders is originally from Vancouver. She did her undergraduate degree at McGill University and her medical school and residency at UBC.  She is a Clinical Instructor at UBC and has a passion for medical education so you will often see medical students and residents working alongside her.

When not at work, Dr Saunders can be found spending time with her family, or outdoors, hiking, skiing, or biking.  She also loves to travel and will always be drawn back to the ocean.
