Do I need a referral to see a gynecologist?

Yes, please see your health care provider if you are seeking a referral to our clinic.

Can I receive All my prenatal care at your clinic?

No, we only offer consultative obstetrics.  You can self-refer to either Solstice Maternity or Yukon Midwifery. Your care provider will refer you to our clinic for a consultation if needed.

My doctor/nurse practitioner referred me, how long will I have to wait for my appointment?

We schedule referrals according to their urgency.  Unfortunately this can mean that if your concern is not dangerous to your life the wait-time can be long (6 - 12 months).  We encourage patients to keep working with their care providers on their health while they await their appointment. You may find some of the links on our Patient Resources page useful.

How will I be notified about my appointment?

We will phone you with your appointment date and time at the phone number provided by the care provider who made the referral. Please make sure that if you change your phone number we are notified, otherwise we will not be able to reach you.

What if I can’t make my appointment?

Please call our clinic at 867-393-8915 to reschedule. Ideally, please give us 24 - 48h notice.   Please do not attend your appointment if you are sick; it may be possible to change your appointment to a phone appointment, otherwise it can be rescheduled.

What if I miss my appointment?

Please call our clinic at 867-393-8915 and we will do our best to reschedule you. If you have missed a number of appointments we may ask you to go back to your health care provider first.

What if I need urgent medical care?

Please go to the Emergency Room or call 9-1-1. Our clinic does not provide urgent medical care or advice over the phone.

What should I do to prepare for my appointment?

There is no preparation required. It can be helpful to make notes about your symptoms/concerns so you remember them at your appointment.  This is especially useful if your symptoms aren’t present every day - logging them on a calendar for a couple of weeks or months can be helpful. If your symptoms are related to your bladder, you can download and print this bladder diary to track your symptoms over a 3 day time period (or longer if you want/need), and bring it to your appointment. You are welcome to bring a support person to your appointment.
