We provide consultative obstetrics, which means that we do not provide primary maternity care - all patients are followed by either a family doctor or midwife for their pregnancy.  Patients may be referred to us in their pregnancy for a number of reasons, such as:

  • to discuss mode of delivery if they have had a previous cesarean section or are requesting cesarean section

  • to review pregnancy risks associated with obesity, diabetes, or other medical conditions

  • to co-manage higher risk pregnancies such as twins

We provide emergency obstetric care for the Maternity Unit at Whitehorse General Hospital.  Your doctor or midwife may consult us if they have concerns about your pregnancy or labour while you are admitted to the hospital.
